Getting braces is an exciting step towards achieving a beautiful, healthy smile! At Vivid Orthodontics, we understand that the day you get your braces on can be filled with a mix of anticipation and nerves. To help you feel more comfortable and prepared, we’ve outlined what you can expect on this important day.
Step-by-Step Process
- Cleaning: The orthodontic assistant will start by cleaning, polishing, and drying your teeth to create a smooth surface for the braces to be placed.
- Placing the Bracket (Brace): The assistant will place a blue gel on the front of the teeth that will receive a bracket. This gel will be rinsed and a clear liquid is painted on each tooth. Finally, (the time you have been waiting for!), one of our doctors will place your braces and use a blue light to dry the adhesive, securing it into place.
- Inserting the Archwire: Once the brackets are in place, the archwire is threaded through them. The wire is what helps move your teeth into their new positions.
- Securing with Elastics: Small elastics are used to secure the archwire to the brackets. These come in a variety of colors, so you can choose your favorite colors at every visit!
Sensations and Discomfort
You may feel some pressure as the brackets and wires are placed on your teeth, but it will not be painful.
How to Care for Your Braces
After your braces are put on, your assistant will go over how to properly care for them, what foods to eat and avoid, and more. We want to make sure all of your questions are addressed and that you’re feeling comfortable when you leave.
Remember, the Vivid Orthodontics team is here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or concerns after getting your braces, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re committed to making your orthodontic journey as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Getting braces is a significant milestone on the path to a beautiful, healthy smile. By knowing what to expect and following your orthodontist’s advice, you’ll be well-prepared for this exciting chapter. Congratulations on taking this important step towards a healthier, more confident smile!
